“Rebranding a company is not an undertaking to be taken lightly,” explains Wot a Pullet Commercial Director, Matthew Green, “but we felt we needed to project a modern new look that reflects how we see ourselves, and how we want the outside world to view us.”

 

Now rearing 3.5 million pullets per year, Wot a Pullet are the second largest UK layer rearer, and the largest independent operation focusing solely on pullets. The new branding and logo communicate the vision of an innovative company ready to meet the changing needs of a dynamic market. Producers need a good reason to change their rearer

Matthew said: “We were keen to change the perception that all rearers are the same. We understand that producers need a good reason to change their rearer, so Wot a Pullet are determined to create a brand that is associated with excellence. What makes Wot a Pullet different

The new logo was designed by poultry marketing specialists, Blacksmith Marketing Consultancy.

Blacksmith’s Director, Neil Smith, said: “The branding was designed specifically to draw attention to what makes Wot a Pullet different. They now have a brave new identity which works alongside their longstanding and well recognised ‘gold standard’ strapline.”

Matthew Green still sees plenty of reasons for optimism in the egg sector.

He said: “Since 2006, egg consumption has grown year on year, averaging growth of 260 million eggs, each year. Free range eggs represent 67% of total sales, and ethical consumer spending exceeded £100bn for the first time in 2020.”

“Farmers may not be famed for their optimism, but they are renowned for resilience, and I am confident that the egg layer sector will ride out the residual problems of Covid, Brexit, AI, and the seemingly inexorable rise of input costs.”

Matthew explained: “The dominance of free range and organic production is showing no signs of slowing, albeit at the cost of colony production, and we continue to invest to make sure we provide the pullets, and therefore the producers, with the best possible start. In line with our own philosophy and the increasing emphasis amongst consumers of shell eggs we put welfare, bio security and sustainability at the centre of decision making.

Lohmann Brown Lite
